From the highlands of Jalisco’s southern Los Altos region, El Ateo Small Batch Añejo Tequila emerges as a refined expression of tradition and patience. Crafted from 100% Tequilana Weber blue agave grown in the fertile soils of Guanajuato, each plant is slow-roasted in stone and brick ovens before being crushed with a traditional tahona. Fermented in open-air stainless steel tanks using deep well water, the tequila is twice distilled in stainless pot stills with copper coils for a clean yet character-rich spirit.
Aged patiently in used American white oak bourbon barrels, El Ateo Añejo develops a deep amber hue and a bouquet that mingles cooked agave, vanilla, oak, and subtle butterscotch. Hints of citrus, minerals, and soft herbal undertones add intrigue, while the palate delivers a silky balance of sweet caramelized agave, warming cinnamon, black pepper, and delicate brine. The aeration process further refines the body, creating a tequila that is as smooth as it is complex.
Bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof), it’s perfect for savoring neat, where each sip reveals evolving layers, or over a large ice sphere for a slower, more indulgent experience. This is a spirit for those who appreciate the artistry behind small-batch tequila—a pour that respects its heritage while offering a modern elegance that lingers long after the glass is empty.
